MDL FileZerver

Linux-Based Architecture -- At the heart of FileZerver is the highly robust open-source Linux operating system kernel. Because Linux is available free of charge, FileZerver users will never face per-seat license charges stemming from its use.

Scalability -- FileZerver can be scaled up to store and retrieve more than a terabyte of data. The system can control up to 15 SCSI drives (up to 2 terabytes) or eight EIDE drives (up to 4 terabytes) on the same network, simultaneously. Thus, FileZerver provides greater potential for growth and a better return on investment than competing systems.

RAID Data Protection -- FileZerver offers better RAID data protection than any product in its class, providing users with affordability and reliability. While competing products offer support only for RAID 5 (Distributed Data and Parity), FileZerver supports RAID 0 (Striping), and RAID 1 (Mirroring) as well as RAID 5.

Flexible Volume Management -- FileZerver is the first workgroup storage appliance providing the administrator the ability to create and manage application or user-specific storage pools: RAID protection levels, user access, and backup strategy.

Cross-Platform Support -- FileZerver offers client access via Windows, HTTP and UNIX NFS and network support for Windows NCP and NetWare.

Ease of Use -- MDL Corporation designed FileZerver to be easily administered by departmental employees with limited computing know-how. The system's software - which is embedded in FileZerver itself - is configured and managed through a simple browser-based interface.

Features:
  • Up to 15 SCSI devices, or up to 8 IDE.
  • Supports RAID 0, 1 and 5.
  • Supports and automatically detects 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps Ethernet Networks.
  • Acts as a DHCP server.
  • Takes full advantage of NDS, NetWare bindery and NT domain authentication services, simplifying user access authentication.
  • Installs easily and requires no additional client software. No network downtime is necessary.
  • Provides Web browser access to admin tools.
  • Monitors and reports hard disk space consumption and usage statistics.

Features Make the Difference
To be effective, a file server must integrate seamlessly into the customer environment. FileZerver offers:

  • Integration into Windows/NT and NetWare environments, including NetWare 5.
  • Compliance with NT domains and NetWare directory services.
  • RAID 0, 1 and 5 support.
  • SMTP incident notification.
  • Local tape backup.

FileZerver offers unique file and user monitoring. It is the only departmental / workgroup file server that provides user departments with the means to effectively control their investment.
