Activities at Networld+Interop in Las Vegas, March 28-30, 1995

At Networld + Interop in Las Vegas, Nevada, over 30 booths demonstrated InSoft's Communique!. Below are highlights of the demonstrations at the show:

ADC Fibermux

Fibermux used Communique! to demonstrate their new network HUBS and their new ATM/Ethernet switch.

Bay Networks and Interphase

Bay Networks interconnected several booths via ATM including Interop's Network Operation Center and Interphase's booth. Besides demonstrating Communique! within their booth, Bay also used Communique! to showcase their new ATM switch in their hospitality suite at the Las Vegas Hilton.

Cabeltron Systems

Cabeltron used Communique! to demonstrate full 4-way Sun to PC desktop videoconferencing in their booth.

Cisco Systems

Cisco Systems demonstrated the stability of their new IP routing protocols and related hardware over T1. Within a 3-way Communique! videoconference, they could unplug one of the receiving systems and their IP routing would, within seconds, reroute around the dead T1 connection and reestablish connectivity. The other comparable systems using standard RIP routing would take minutes to reestablish contact.

Communique! would wait for the connection to be reestablished and continue on with receiving video and audio. Out of all the desktop videoconferencing products tested, Communique! was the only product that was robust enough for this test.

GTE

GTE connected several booths and conferenced using Communique!. GTE held a multipoint conference between the show floor and their Network Operating Center in Dallas, Texas.

Jet Propulsion Labs, USC Medical Center, and Pacific Bell

Jet Propulsion Labs, USC Medical Center and Pacific Bell demonstrated Communique! on a PC system linked to a Sun workstation over a Pacific Bell-provided ISDN line connecting USC Medical Center to the Pacific Bell booth. This group demonstrated a telemedicine application. While conferencing via Communique!, they concurrently viewed and diagnosed several teleradiological images.

NetEdge Systems Inc. and Stratacom Inc.

NetEdge and Stratacom together used Communique! to link their booths in a cooperative demonstration scenario.

networkMCI

MCI had several Communique! conferences established around the world and the show floor. MCI was connected to the Pacific Bell booth, British Telecom's Corporate office in London, and also to MCI's Corporate Headquarters in Virginia.

Newbridge Networks

Newbridge ran Communique! on 2 systems. One had an ATM NIC card installed, the other used standard Ethernet, both systems communicated through their VIVID ATM switch.
