Recognizing market requirements to bring
"cross-platform, whole product" software
solutions in workgroup collaboration and desktop
videoconferencing to the discrete manufacturing industry,
Spectragraphics introduced a multi-phased plan to
integrate Spectragraphics' TeamSolutions® family of
workgroup collaboration applications with InSoft's OpenDVE
conferencing architecture.
- Spectragraphics will first develop a special
version of TeamConference® that plugs into
InSoft Communique!.
It will be called TeamConference For Communique!.
It will be the industry's first desktop
collaboration and videoconferencing product
designed specifically for discrete manufacturing.
- Second, Spectragraphics will add OpenDVE
technology to its TeamSolutions environment, with
video, audio and whiteboard plugins from InSoft
together with its TeamConference application
conferencing software.
- Third, Spectragraphics will combine OpenDVE
technology with its TeamExchange®
store-and-forward and collaboration framework and
TeamSolution environment

Spectragraphics will capitalize on this significant
opportunity by being first to market in the discrete
manufacturing market."
Spectragraphics Team Solutions family of products
consists of TeamConference and TeamExchange.
TeamConference is a real-time conferencing tool which
allows any X-windows application, such as Network
Management, Mapping, CAD/CAM/CAE (ProEngineert,
AIX-CATIAt, Professional CADAMt, IDEAS Master Series,
AUTOCADt), and others to be collaboratively shared by
multiple users in multiple locations across UNIX-based
workstations and X-enabled PC's.
TeamExchange allows geographically dispersed product
teams to communicate by routing compound documents
containing information from multiple sources. Drawings,
2D/3D models, pictures, graphics, spreadsheets and text
can be captured from a variety of applications, placed on
the electronic canvas, and then forwarded to other
members of the product team regardless of the platform or
application used to generate the information. Comments
and annotations in the form of text, graphics and voice
can be added to clarify issues and to conduct
"informal product conversations."
Both InSoft and Spectragraphics will jointly market
each product.
Spectragraphics' TeamConference for Communique! will
be available 4Q'95 on Sun Microsystems and Hewlett
Packard Series 700 workstations. Versions for Silicon
Graphics' and IBM Power Series AIX-based workstations
will follow.
