InSoft, Inc., (Mechanicsburg, PA, USA) and Dassault
Systemes (Paris, France) today announced a CAA OSD
agreement. Under the agreement, Dassault Systemes will
integrate components of InSoft's multimedia collaborative
framework and Communique!
desktop videoconferencing software into its CATIA/CADAM
Application Architecture.
As a result, CATIA/CADAM customers and partners will
be able to share, edit and modify design engineering
drawings in real-time, as well as videoconference from
desktop systems, with team members around the world.
These productivity enhancements reduce overall time to
market while improving design quality, and cut costs and
time associated with travel.
"Dassault Systemes' commitment to real-time
multimedia collaboration and videoconferencing
demonstrates its continued leadership and vision in
improving the design engineering process," said
Daniel L. Harple, Jr., Chairman and CEO of InSoft, Inc.
"We believe this enhanced functionality within
CATIA/CADAM will provide a distinct competitive advantage
for its users."
Bruno Latchague, Vice-President, Modeling Technology,
Dassault Systems, comments: "By implementing our new
multimedia collaboration features of CATIA/CADAM, our
customers will recognize our commitment to simultaneous
engineering and new ways to enable people to work
together. Equally as important, InSoft's scalable
software framework clearly addresses standards,
interoperability and network integration
requirements."
OpenDVE
is an application development framework for distributed
multimedia and includes a robust suite of application
programming interfaces (APIs), libraries and management
functions. OpenDVE enables seamless interoperability
between supported Windows and UNIX desktops, video
compression standards and networks such as Ethernet, ATM,
FDDI, Frame Relay, and ISDN.
Communique!
is a feature-rich desktop collaboration and conferencing
solution which integrates real-time video technology with
fully interactive, easy-to-use, document conferencing
tools. Users can see and sense reactions of participants
in more than one location during a conference given
Communique!'s multipoint capability.
CATIA/CADAM Application Architecture (CAA) provides
industries with the software development tools, methods,
standards and processes required to create seamlessly
integrated applications based on the CATIA open
architecture. These industry specific software
applications are based on object-oriented technology, and
complement the CATIA/CADAM Solutions. The CAA partnership
program creates tight development relationships with
industry leading software developers. It is staged from:
CAA Development partnership for CAA product integration;
CAA Strategic Development partnerships with long term
plan synergy; and, CAA OSD partnerships where the CAA
partner acts as an extended laboratory to Dassault
Systemes R&D organization.
CATIA and CADAM are developed by Dassault Systemes and
marketed and supported worldwide by IBM. These software
are leaders in the CAD/CAM/CAE marketplace with more than
7,000 customers and over 100,000 seats installed. Many of
the world's largest manufacturers, including IBM, as well
as smaller companies with only one or two seats, are
gaining competitive advantage and achieving design
excellence with these systems.
InSoft, Inc., is a worldwide provider of
communications software and development tools, and market
leader in the sales of collaborative computing, desktop
conferencing and distributed digital video solutions. The
company's products, which enable transparent digital
convergence, are based on its open software architecture,
Digital Video Everywhere, or DVE. Its
products are marketed directly to commercial and
government end-users, through leading systems
manufacturers and value-added resellers, for applications
such as financial services, computer-aided design,
engineering and exploration, telemedicine/health care,
entertainment, legal, telecommunications, and a myriad of
other information technology applications.
