InSoft® Announces Industry's 1st H.323 LAN Conferencing Gateway to Connect H.320 Systems

Enterprise Collaboration and Conferencing Solutions Extended To Include Full Compatibility with ITU H.320 Products

Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

InSoft, Inc., a worldwide leader in LAN/WAN-based real-time communications and collaborative software solutions, today announced the industry's 1st-generation H.323 LAN conferencing gateway that bridges InSoft's Communique! and OpenDVE-based desktop videoconferencing solutions to H.320 ISDN/circuit-switched systems.

Called InSoft GlobalConference, the gateway implements emerging ITU protocols for H.323 gateways, including initial implementations of H.22Z multiplexing, H.245 controlling, H.261 video codecs and G.7XX audio codecs. GlobalConference is fully H.320-compatible and will be software upgradeable to the complete H.323 specification when finalized.

The H.323 specification will define standards for terminal, equipment and services for multimedia communications over LANs communicating to systems connected to telephony networks such as ISDN.

Support for H.323 terminals is incorporated into InSoft's Digital Video Everywhere (DVE) communications software architecture, which enables Communique! and applications developed to the InSoft OpenDVE collaborative multimedia API to initiate and receive H.320 desktop conferencing requests.

Daniel L Harple, Jr., Chairman & CEO of InSoft, said, "Running over all network and compression types is essential to enabling complete digital convergence within the enterprise infrastructure, making endpoint interoperability transparent and ubiquitous. These deliverables have always been key customer requirements for large-scale deployment."

"Likewise, we are committed to allowing interoperability between various collaborative and conferencing applications offerings," said Harple. "By incorporating industry standards such as H.320/323 and native telephony support into our multi-algorithm and network abstraction layers of DVE, we will be the first company to deliver seamless interoperability to any conferencing endpoint within a diverse enterprise network."

Harple added that InSoft is aggressively continuing engineering efforts to maintain its established technological leadership for multimedia tools and applications on packet and cell networks.

InSoft GlobalConference allows for bi-directional calling, from LAN-to-WAN or WAN-to-LAN. It connects to Ethernet or cell-based LANs and to the WAN using ISDN.

InSoft GlobalConference will ship in December with a list price starting at $7950.

InSoft, Inc., is a worldwide provider of communications software and development tools, and market leader in the sales of collaborative computing, desktop conferencing and distributed digital video solutions.
