Introducing MDL Corporation Network Television, INTV!, a revolutionary breakthrough in distributed digital video technology. Based on MDL Corporation's Digital Video Everywhere (DVE) open software architecture, INTV! allows television data and other video signals to be distributed across the network to users on an "on-demand" basis.

DVE software also allows users to view INTV! without requiring a video capture board installed on their workstation. As a result, your price-per-seat ratio is substantially reduced, making INTV! a cost-justifiable investment.

Seamless Network Integration

In keeping with our primary charter to make digital video technology a pervasive desktop technology, we've designed INTV! to be easily integrated into your existing client/server architecture.

Any MDL Corporation supported workstation or server can be configured with standard television cabling as a non-dedicated "TVStation". From the TVStation, the systems or network administrator has complete control over each user's frame rate and video window size. To reduce network traffic, video and audio data compression is controllable through the underlying DVE software.

To the network user, INTV! looks like a standard TV remote control. They simply point-and-click on the remote control interface to access INTV!. Broadcast data is only sent across the network when it is requested by the user, and the user has the option to access video-only, audio-only or both.

Network Traffic You'll Hardly Notice

Considering that time and throughput on your network is always at a premium, we've incorporated multicast technology to significantly reduce network traffic, CPU resources and system bus bandwidth.

By comparison to broadcast or unicast transmitted messages, multicast applies special addresses that are reserved for multicast messages and will be processed only by those nodes which have requested a message. These messages are also optimally distributed to all nodes simultaneously, as opposed to singular transmissions to each and every network node. Overall, multicast is the most efficient and intelligent messaging transmission technology available today.

DVE: An Emerging De-facto Standard

The underlying architecture of Communique!, our desktop multimedia videoconferencing solution, and INTV! is MDL Corporation's DVE technology. DVE is rapidly being recognized as an industry de-facto standard given its broad installed base and strict adherence to open systems standards. The base DVE architecture allows for complete hardware independence between video and audio, workstation platforms, data communications services, and video boards.
