Communique! 4.2 New Features

Communique! 4.2 adds the following improvements and enhancements over earlier versions.

New Functionality

All of Communique!'s plugins have been Internationalized, and support multi-byte character sets and Asian input methods. Using localized message catalogs, all of Communique!'s interfaces and messages can be displayed in the user's language of choice.

Known Issues

When using Multimedia Services for Digital Unix v2.0, you need to set the environment variable MME_JPEG_OLDQ to 1 before you run Communique! to ensure that you use the proper JPEG formats.

To use a language catalog with Internationalized Plugins, both the sender and receivers must have that catalog installed. Also, all users in the conference must have all of the required fonts installed on their systems.

In order to invite groups whose names have spaces in them, you will need to enclose the group name in double-quotes.

When you run the Plugin Configuration Tool, if there are no Plugins listed in your Available Plugins box your Plugin Configuration settings file is corrupt. Exit the Plugin Configuration Tool and delete ISPluginConfigurationTool.ini in your CommuniqueSave directory.

When you use the Print function from Communique! Plugins, you should be sure to use the -c flag with your printer string. The -c flag makes an actual copy of the file to be printed in the printer spool, rather than creating a symbolic link.

The following issues exist with the Parallax drivers for Solaris 2.5: The Business Card photo is not updated in the Business Card editor after you close the Photo Booth. When you load an image from disk within the Photo Booth, the image is not displayed in the camera lens. When you freeze video within the Video Tool, the video window turns black, however, the image can still be copied properly from the window.

Contacting Technical Support

InSoft technical support has been relocated to MDL's corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. For assistance, contact MDL's technical support staff.

Installation Script Issues

When entering input on the menu screens, you cannot list multiple items to toggle (i.e. a series such as 1 3 4 5 7).

When entering input on the menu screens, some non-alphanumeric characters (including % $ -, etc.) can cause unpredictable results.

Other Notes

Statically Linked VigraPix Drivers
If you are using the VigraPix video capture card, and you do not have X11R5 and Motif installed, you will need to use the statically linked version. To do so, use the following commands:

For Solaris 2:

cd $COMM_HOME/plugins/ISTVToolCaptureProcessICLBVigraPix
cp solaris/ISTVToolCaptureProcessICLBVigraPix \
	solaris/ISTVToolCaptureProcessICLBVigraPix.dynamic
cp solaris.static/ISTVToolCaptureProcessICLBVigraPix \
	solaris/ISTVToolCaptureProcessICLBVigraPix

For Solaris 1:

cd $COMM_HOME/plugins/ISTVToolCaptureProcessICLBVigraPix
cp sunos/ISTVToolCaptureProcessICLBVigraPix \
	sunos/ISTVToolCaptureProcessICLBVigraPix.dynamic
cp sunos.static/ISTVToolCaptureProcessICLBVigraPix \
	sunos/ISTVToolCaptureProcessICLBVigraPix

Sun Sparc 5 Audio Support

install the AudioBuffer fix from MDL Corporation

For Solaris 1.1.2

install Sun patch 102387

or install Sun patch 102182 (for Hardware 5/94)
or install Sun patch 102183 (for Hardware 8/94)
install the AudioBuffer fix from MDL Corporation

For Solaris 2.4

install Sun patch 102125
