Notes:
Support of multiple operating systems has always been difficult, as each vendor has their own ideas as to how things should work.
Differing data rates typically means that one or more of the participants has a smaller pipe than the others. If the amount of audio and video data from the conference is constricted by the size of the pipe, then the quality of the conference will suffer. At the least, the client with the smallest pipe can be flooded with piecemeal video and audio frames from the other attendees, resulting in a cacophony of noise and undecipherable images.
Many DVC packages do not include support for all the different standards currently in use. Without such support, it is possible for a connection to be made, but without audio, or video, or data sharing.
