TriadServer Network Attached Storage

TriadServerTM makes it easy to provide continuous high speed access to your mission critical data. How? By …

  • Using the Traakan, Inc. FasTraak operating system along with MDL's TriadServer clusters you get continuous high speed resilient access to your data - even in the event of a local catastrophe!

  • Providing abundant disk space! TriadServer TM clusters support up to 128 UNIX compatible volumes, giving you up to 1800 terabytes of disk space. TriadServer supports RAID and non-RAID storage devices.

  • Using easily maintained hardware! At the heart of TriadServer's hardware is a standard Intel architecture processor and a high performance motherboard.

  • Easily integrating into existing 10/100/1000 megabit Ethernet networks! TriadServer keeps things simple by using Open Networking Protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, NFS, iSCSI target and NDMP), and supporting every modern network cable interface.

  • Making backups a snap! TriadServer supports tapeless backup using disk-based storage nodes. No more waiting for tapes to be found and loaded!

  • Making archival copies easy. Unattended local and remote archival backups and restores with tape devices, including jukeboxes, is available using the industry standard NDMP protocol.

  • Performing automatic health checks on the network as well as the storage node.

  • Using Traakan's RAIN (Redundant Array of Independent Nodes), providing completely automatic and seamless storage node fail over to a standby storage node in the event of a failure.

  • Automatically recruiting replacement standby storage nodes, as required, from an available pool of spare nodes.

  • Performing checkpoints of the file system at user-selected intervals, creating an online backup of files so that any changes made to the file system (deletions, modifications, creations, etc.) after the checkpoint has been made can be undone.

  • Extending (growing) file volumes as needed.

  • Journaling all changes made to the file systems.  No time consuming file consistency checking of file volumes is needed if the system is brought down in a disorderly fashion.

  • Requiring minimal system administration. A highly intuitive web-based management interface is provided, along with a telnet/SSH interface and a local console.

DISK CAPACITY AND ACCESS

MDL's TriadServer is a fast and reliable network server which is designed to give your network added power, resources, and flexibility at a reasonable price! TriadServer meets your disk space requirements with UNIX, Linux and Windows compatible, rapid-restart file volumes. Unlike many Unix or Windows filesystems, these volumes are not limited to 2 or 4 Gigabytes in size. More good news: TriadServer disk access is even faster than local disk access. You can even mount TriadServer volumes on any UNIX or PC-based system using NFS!  Also, file volumes can be made larger "on the fly", using the provided RAID or non-RAID disk storage.

NETWORK CONNECTIVITY

MDL's TriadServer can easily connect to your existing Ethernet networks. Only standard Open Networking Protocols such as TCP/IP, NFS, iSCSI, DNS, NIS, NTP, TELNET, RLOGIN, and SSH are used. This eliminates the headache of having to install new connectivity packages on other network nodes. For example, user authentication is handled with a passwd file, or encrypted using SSH, and user and host information can be kept current with the NIS protocol.

With Traakan's advanced RAIN architecture, the nodes comprising a single TriadServer can be spread over a wide geographic area. This eliminates single points of failure in addition to fire, theft or other events beyond your control.

AVAILABLE CONFIGURATIONS

MDL's TriadServer is available in three models: Base-Triad, Mid-Triad, and Peak-Triad. Each model offers a range of memory and disk storage configurations.

The Base-Triad model is configured with up to 500 Gigabytes of storage per node.

The Mid-Triad is configured with up to 1 (one) terabyte of storage per node.

The SPEC_sfs97 record setting Peak-Triad model is configured with up to 4 (four) terabytes of disk storage per node with the additional protection of RAID.

You configure the total capacity of the TriadServer through the clustering of multiples of these models of storage nodes.

Whichever TriadServer models and cluster capacity you choose, you will be increasing the performance and resilience to failure of your network at a fraction of the cost of an additional UNIX, Windows or Linux server.
