Communique! is the first workstation and PC based product that integrates the multimedia aspects of graphics, audio, video, text and native applications into a virtual conferencing application. With Communique!, you can have a meeting between desktops spanning an entire network.

Communique! contains a suite of easily managed tools for defining and initiating an online, real-time conference with fellow workgroup members. And like the best conference rooms, the Communique! Conference Manager has the tools that help people easily exchange ideas and information: Audio Conferencing, Video Conferencing, a Whiteboard, and a Chat Tool are a few of the tools available to the conference members. In your meeting you can use the tools necessary to get your point across to the participants. Since Communique! runs on your workstation, you can grab images and data from any of your workstation applications for discussion in a conference.

You can use Communique! for real-time review of projects, concurrent engineering activities, online presentations, training, remote support, customer service applications, MCAD, ECAD, long distance interviews, and more. How you interact with people becomes more efficient with Communique!, technology that empowers the way you work.

You can learn more about Communique! through this manual. The Getting Started chapter will help you get up and running quickly. The following chapters give you more detailed information on all of Communique!’s features. Common questions and problems are dealt with in a troubleshooting appendix.

This manual covers Communique! for both the Motif and OpenLook window managers. The images provided in the manual are taken from the Motif Version of Communique!, but for Sun OpenLook users, the functionality should be the same, as the differences are only cosmetic.

Further information on Communique! is provided in the Administrator’s Guide. The Administrator’s Guide includes sections on system requirements, installing and licensing Communique!, and detailed information on technical topics that pertain to Communique!.

Software Maintenance entitles users to free technical support, access to the MDL FTP site, and free product updates.
