DSD Driver
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Can the DSD Driver allow a 9 Gig drive to be seen as one directory?
- A 9 Gig drive cannot be seen as one, flat directory, as at least three file systems and
three mount points must be created. However, if two of those mount points are
subdirectories of one mount point, then the filesystems of the 9 Gig drive will appear
under the highest level mount point.
- When adding a second 9 Gig disk to a system, does the /dev/dsd_info
file need to be changed?
- No, the /dev/dsd_info file only needs to point to one, valid device.
- When upgrading from HP-UX 9.03 to 9.05, what must be done with the DSD
driver?
- Version 1P of the DSD driver must be replaced with version 1R of the DSD driver. Version
1R needs to be installed from scratch since /etc/master, /etc/newconfig/master and other
files used by the DSD Driver will be replaced by the new OS.
- When installing a permanent DSD Driver license after originally
installing a temporary license, does the HP-UX kernel have to be rebuilt?
- No, the kernel does not have to be rebuilt. If there aren't permission denied error
messages, simply change the entry in /etc/mdl_dsd_licenses and run the daemon by issuing
the mdl_dsdd command. If "Permission Denied" messages are being generated,
reboot the system after replacing the license string in the /etc/mdl_dsd_licenses file.
