Highest Capacity and Performance in a Single Tape Drive SDLT drive technology typically delivers two to three times the capacity of other tape technologies, with sustained throughput of up to 960 MB/minute native and storage capacity of up to 320 GB per cartridge (with 2:1 compression). It provides high capacity for todays rapid data growth, and throughput to keep your system productive even with shrinking backup windows. SDLT technology also provides rapid file restore, with access to any file averaging 70 seconds. Industry Leading Data Integrity and System LifeSDLT tapes linear recording system, accurate optical tape guiding system, and adaptive control mechanism provide significantly longer tape and head life than other tape technologies. The media is rated for 1,000,000 stop/start passes or approximately 10,000 cartridge usesup to 100 times that of other tape drives. SDLT uses an advanced Reed Solomon error correction code to provide a hard error rate of less than 1 in 1017 bits read. The MTBF for all models is greater than 80,000 power - on hours at 100% duty cycle. SDLT uses an advanced Reed Solomon error correction code to provide a hard error rate of less than 1 in 1017 bits read. The SSDLT 320 MTBF is greater than 250,000 power on hours at 100% duty cycle. Support for Growing SystemsThe MDL SDLT drive subsystems support all modern SCSI standards. Up to fifteen units can be daisy-chained together for increased capacity on a single host connection. Full Applications Support for Windows NT and UNIXWith integrated Quantum SDLT drives, all MDL SDLT subsystem models are supported by all leading backup and archive applications software for Windows NT and a variety of UNIX platforms, including IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, DEC ULTRIX, Silicon Graphics IRIX, and Linux. |
